Scale and Mastercard Expand Card Issuing Infrastructure Across Five African Markets

Fintech infrastructure company Scale has announced an expansion of its partnership with Mastercard, aimed at simplifying card programme deployment across Africa.

In a recent LinkedIn update, Scale said the expanded collaboration will extend its card issuing infrastructure into Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, enabling fintechs and other financial service providers to launch card products more efficiently.

The company noted that building card programmes in Africa has traditionally required coordination across multiple banks, payment networks, and compliance frameworks before a single card is issued—resulting in high costs and delays.

Under the expanded partnership, Scale and Mastercard will provide a unified solution covering onboarding, processing, BIN sponsorship, operations, and compliance through a single integration point, supported by Mastercard’s global payments network.
