Mastercard names Yasemin Bedir president of Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa

Payments giant Mastercard has promoted long-serving leader Yasemin Bedir to president of Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA), effective 1 September.

The promotion marks the fifth title that Bedir will have held at Mastercard since joining the firm as head of sales of South East Europe in 2007. Since then, she has served as general manager of Turkey and Azerbaijan, EVP of processors and banks in North America, and most recently, divisional president of Eastern Europe.

Prior to joining the payments processor, Bedir spent time in managerial roles at HSBC and Garanti Bank.

Based out of the UAE, Bedir will lead the strategy and direction of Mastercard’s regional operations, overseeing partnerships with retailers, fintechs, financial institutions, governments, and business clients.

Former EEMEA president Dimitrios Dosis paves the way for Bedir, having been recently appointed chief commercial payments officer at the start of the month. Dosis succeeds Raj Seshadri, who transitions to senior strategic advisor to the CEO.
