Rwanda launches fintech hub
To support its National Fintech Strategy, unveiled last year, Rwanda has now announced plans to launch a fintech hub.
The two main goals of the strategy, which is due to run to 2029, are to attract US$200 million in investments and to create at least 7 500 jobs.
“To this end, a fintech hub is being launched to foster collaborations between startups and financial institutions,” said Paula Ingabire, Rwanda’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology and Innovation.

Flutterwave launches in Zambia, now operates in over 35 countries

Paysky and MTN Group Fintech launch ecommerce platform in Uganda
Paysky and MTN Group Fintech have introduced Market by MoMo, an ecommerce platform aimed at Ugandan merchants and consumers.
The platform facilitates the buying and selling of various products, including electronics, groceries, fashion, and beauty items, with features such as secure payments and delivery services.The initiative is intended to enhance digital commerce in Uganda by offering merchants better market access and improving consumer purchasing options.
Representatives from Paysky stated that the company has worked to expand digital financial services across the Middle East and Africa since its establishment in 2017. They noted that the partnership with MTN aligns with this objective by introducing secure and adaptable payment infrastructure to Uganda.
