UBA Advances Digital Banking Platforms to Ease Payment Across Africa
Recently, United Bank for Africa Plc upgraded its Point of Sale terminal as well as the UBA MONI App to provide convenient, fast, and secure services to its customers across Africa and beyond, writes Kayode Tokede
UBA recently unveiled its vastly improved Point of Sale (POS) terminal as well as the UBA MONI App. The move by the financial institution is aimed at redefining the digital payment landscape that comes with ease of transaction and secure services to its over 45 million customers globally.
Also, it is meant to empower Small and Medium scale Enterprises (SMEs) and drive its seamless banking operations.
The POS and MONI App upgraded platforms, according to the bank, is part of its ongoing campaign with the theme: Innovation for Progress: Empowering SMEs, Connecting Communities, Simplifying Banking.
The newly improved POS, which provides customers efficiency and ease in transacting their businesses, boasts exciting features designed to boost efficiency, transparency and trust for merchants; including instant settlement, real-time monitoring, pay-by-link functionality, and a 100per cent transaction success rate.
OKX Taps PayPal To Simplify Crypto Purchasing Across Europe
Global crypto exchange OKX has rolled out PayPal integration for users across the European Economic Area (EEA), allowing them to buy crypto using PayPal-linked funding sources.
The new feature simplifies the process for customers in countries like Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, who can now use PayPal balances, connected bank accounts, or cards to deposit funds directly into their OKX wallets.

Binance Launches Sharia-Compliant Crypto Staking Product
Global crypto exchange Binance has launched its first Islamic finance product with the launch of Sharia Earn, a staking service certified as Sharia-compliant by advisory firm Amanie Advisors.
Designed to align with Islamic principles such as the prohibition of interest (riba) and excessive uncertainty (gharar), the platform enables users in select markets to earn passive income from digital assets like BNB, ETH and SOL.
The move opens a new pathway for faith-based investors seeking access to crypto markets and signals Binance’s broader push to build inclusive, values-driven financial products.

Stryd partners with Experian to launch Open Banking-powered loan-matching solution
Stryd has announced its partnership with Experian to launch an Open Banking-powered loan-matching solution for brokers and customers.
Following this announcement, brokers will be able to access an up-to-date and accurate view of a customer’s financial situation from Experian, through the recently acquired Bankstatements.com solution, as well as a secure repository of bank loan product information from Stryd.
In addition, borrowers will be given the possibility to benefit from a more personalised and efficient experience, without the need to self-report. In the near future, Experian also intends to offer access to transaction data through illion, an Experian company, in order to further optimise the overall customer experience.
Papaya and Worksome launch global freelance payment solution
Papaya Global and Worksome have announced a partnership aimed at simplifying how enterprises manage and compensate contingent workers.
The collaboration introduces an integrated platform that combines Papaya’s global payments infrastructure with Worksome’s contractor management interface.
The joint solution allows businesses to onboard, classify, and pay freelancers across more than 160 countries using local currencies while maintaining compliance with local regulations. The offering includes features such as agent-of-record (AOR) and employer-of-record (EOR) capabilities, real-time payments, and in-product worker classification tools, all accessible through a unified interface.
