Sierra Leone and Guinea Unite to Boost Cross-Border Mobile Connectivity
At the 15th Session of the African Council of Regulators (RAC-15), the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Republic of Guinea reached a landmark milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Free Roaming. The agreement marks a major breakthrough in efforts to achieve seamless, cross-border communication across the continent.
The MoU represents a significant advancement toward borderless connectivity in Africa. By removing roaming barriers between the two countries, the initiative will make mobile communication more affordable and accessible for citizens who travel or conduct business across both borders.
The development is also seen as an important step in accelerating regional integration and bringing Africa closer to achieving its vision of a Digital Single Market—a core strategic priority championed by Smart Africa. Through such partnerships, Smart Africa aims to foster greater cooperation among member states and enable a unified, digitally connected Africa.
